Hammarlund HQ-170 C Vintage Ham Radio Receiver for Parts or Restoration. This radio is in pretty good condition for its age showing some visible wear. The chassis is in pretty rough shape and there are engravings made by a previous owner on the back of the chassis and cabinet. Also, the long shaft and knob for the clock are missing, and the “HQ-ONE-SEVENTY” logo is loose. Aside from that, and some areas of scuffs, scratches, and other marks, this radio isn’t in too bad of shape overall. Unfortunately the radio is not working right so we must sell it AS-IS for parts or restoration. This item has been tested by our technician, a ham radio operator of more than 55 years. Here’s what he had to say: Tested and found that clock, meter, and dial lamps all work. For some reason the radio does not work on an external speaker but only on headphones. Another issue with the radio is that either the 0B2 tube was bad or there is a bad resistor in the 0B2 circuit, so the tube has been removed for now. Someone will have to go through this one as we do not have the time to investigate further. Please realize that this is a vintage piece of equipment, and unless specifically noted above, it has not been fully restored with new components. It will inevitably need maintenance, however it’s impossible to know whether that will be next week or a few years down the road.
