Released in February 1972, the RC-708 was the first model to switch from the traditional AC power supply to battery operation. Internally, it utilizes a “tuning fork” movement made by COPAL-a type of mechanism that garnered significant attention before quartz movements became the industry standard. As it was a high-priced item for a clock radio at the time, few units remain today, making this a rare find. There is a crack in one section, but since it is on the back, it is not noticeable.
