I’ve seen one in the last two years show up and it was also listed for parts of repair…. I don’t know the condition of this item other than what is described below so read it all. Item is as is… Playable Media Format: Cassette Tape. Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan. Audio Outputs: Stereo L/R RCA. Features: Cassette Tape, Headphone Jack. All pictures are of the actual item and power cord. Condition is “Pre-Owned” total Classic. Comes with cord from Japan cannot test I don’t have a cord that works with this unit. The cord is from Japan but I’m sure it’s compatible with any USA standard cord. I just don’t have one. The radio speakers are good. The battery compartment is corrosion Free however I’m missing the battery cover. Price will reflect this. The cassette cannot be tested since I don’t have a cord. It’s shows it’s age and wear in the photos. This is an extremely rare boombox. Thought to only have been available in Japan. And was probably imported by a few select vendors. The RT-8840 (also called BomBeat 14) is a mid-size boombox from Toshiba. It looks good, with nice brushed aluminum trim all over the controls, tuner, and tape door. It was built sometime during the late 1970’s, because it appeared in ads from 1979. The controls all work move freely except for one that is broken. The switch on top is gone. The antenna is also gone. Not sure what happened there. It measures 503 x 362 x 125 mm (with the handle up), and it weighs 5.8 KG without batteries. It has good build quality and nice-feeling controls. The woofers are 15.5cm diameter, 5.2cm deep, and are labeled 2.5 Ohm, 6 watt. The tweeters are 5cm diameter and are labeled 8 Ohm, 3 watt. The amplifier chip is a Toshiba TA7214P. Please examine all the photos for full cosmetic condition. This is the best description of all seeing what it is and what you’ll receive. I can only say so much. Ask me any questions. However, this was my neighbors son’s who passed away unexpectedly and I don’t know much about it other than what I already described. I put as much information as I can find about it. Including I don’t have any way to make this work. But the power cord from Japan is.. A working unit goes for several thousand dollars in today’s market. I’m asking 300.00 get it while you can…. Again for parts or repair.
