1941 41 GM Chevy Chevrolet Car Truck Radio with speaker – for parts or restore. Rescued from a load of vintage parts, this GM radio was used on cars and trucks in the early 1940’s. Serial number on side is B40-031404. I’ve seen others that start with B41, B42 – I’m assuming this may be the manufacture year. I cleaned the case and repaired the mechanical parts. The dial moves smoothly and the push buttons can be set and used. These buttons unscrew and set after pushing and tightening, different than more modern radios. The top mounted speaker is unique, and I haven’t seen this style before. The 6-1/2 speaker is long destroyed, but the casing is clean and it can be reconed. The chrome face plate is beyond repair with massive pitting. One knob is missing the set screw to hold it in place. The radio call letters are redone from the originals (car was obviously from Chicago). This is just a cleaned up non-working shelf display, or tear into it and make it work again. Power cord is original, destroyed, and disconnected. Tubes can all be removed and replaced as needed.
