For some information, A couple years back when I got the unit. I did do an initial clean up inside the unit. All the belt gunk of course. I don’t think it was 100% but I did clean a good amount of it. At the time, I didn’t order any belts for the machine because there wasn’t any available at the time. I only did the clean up for this unit because when I did stick a gum stick at the time I did see the motor spin and the red bulb lit, a sign of life so I felt like it was a candidate to keep. I could’ve custom made the belt if I measured it but I decided to keep it for the sake of maybe fixing it up in the future. But now its the present and I never got around to doing that…… Please look at the pictures carefully, Pictures 4,5 you can see wear. The plating has a wear, but it shouldn’t effect playback (when fixed). Other notes, This is a JP unit. I’m not quite sure if we ever had the model in the states, but whoever does get this working. There is Dolby B on this cassette player! And has auto reverse as well. This will NOT come with the AA Battery pack that usually comes with the unit. I never got it when I obtained it. Almost unobtanium item, such a rare part. This also as a recording function! Although I really don’t see it as a great way to record music in. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!
